Board-Certified Psychiatrist & Psychotherapist in St. Louis

I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist and psychotherapist with specialized training in women's mental health. I provide psychiatric care for adults age 18 and older, with particular expertise in the mental health concerns that can occur during reproductive and hormonal transitions in a woman's life.

My areas of specialization include women's mental health, planning for pregnancy, pregnancy, postpartum depression and anxiety, adjustment to becoming a mother, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), and the perimenopausal transition. I also treat ADHD, depression and sadness, bipolar disorder, anxiety and stress, and loss and grief.

My practice includes psychotherapy and, when indicated, medication management. As a psychiatrist, I consider emotional concerns from both psychological and medical perspectives combining evidence-based psychiatry with an integrative approach.

I am currently accepting new patients in St. Louis.

Women's Mental Health

A woman's mental health can be affected by biological, psychological and social factors throughout her life. Reproductive and hormonal transitions — including pregnancy, the postpartum period and perimenopause — can coincide with changes in emotional well-being and psychiatric symptoms.

During my psychiatry training at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), I received specialized training in Women's Mental Health where I was the first graduate of the UCSF Women's Mental Health Focus Track after working with a committee to create the track.

Pregnancy & Postpartum

Pregnancy and becoming a parent involve significant physical, psychological, and life changes. I work with women who are planning for pregnancy, during pregnancy, and during the postpartum period, including women experiencing postpartum depression or anxiety and those adjusting to becoming a mother.

Perimenopause

Perimenopause is a period of significant biological transition and can also be an important time to pay attention to mental health. In addition to my specialized training in women's mental health, I have completed many hours of continuing medical education focused specifically on perimenopause.

A Collaborative Approach

I believe the relationship between a patient and psychiatrist matters. Treatment is collaborative and may include psychotherapy, medication management when indicated, or both.

With your written consent, I can also collaborate with your other physicians, previous mental health professionals, and members of your personal support system when appropriate.
